First check out my Dum Dum Tree:
Isn't adorable? I like my teacher's desk to have a minimal amount of stuff on it. I also have to have a dash of decoration which makes this lollypop tree the perfect balance of color and fun to my simple, boring desk.
It was super simple and quick to make!
All you need is:
- A pot (I got mine on sale on Jo-Annes)
- Styrofoam ball that fits inside the pot
- Dum Dum Lollypops
- Ribbon (optional)
- Hot Glue Gun (optional but will need if you use ribbon)
How to make:
Add the styrofoam ball to the pot and start inserting Dum Dums!
When your satisfied with the fullness of your tree, decorate your pot however you wish!
First I added some turquoise ribbon you will find on other crafts in my room so they will all tie together.
Then I realized that just wasn't enough pizzaz and you could see the hot glue marks so I added some yellow textured ribbon I also had on hand.
Much better with the yellow! And I got this beauty:
I love how this will for sure be a conversation piece for visitors and they can even take a Dum Dum from it, I have plenty more to fill in any 'missing' lollypops.
I also made some class notebooks our whole class can write in. I got the idea from I Love My Classroom and thought it would be perfect to use during Work on Writing during the Daily 5.
I also tried to choose topics that could be on going and student's could write in more than once and all through out the year.
Then it needed some page numbers to finish it off.
I will be writing the first entry in each notebook to give students something to read and set the expectation of what a journal entry should look like.
I also saw 4th Grade Frolics has some journal covers for free today you can use to make your own!
